Role Overview & Operations Leadership
During my tenure as an Assistant Manager at JSPL (Jindal Steel & Power Ltd), I led a dedicated team of over 20 engineers and operators, overseeing highly critical daily shift operations in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS). As the Control Room Engineer, my primary focus was on Process Control, maintaining seamless operations and ensuring absolute safety and efficiency across the floor.
Commissioning JSPL's First Twin Strand Slab Caster
I played a pivotal role in the deployment and commissioning of Caster 2, which was JSPL's very first high-speed Twin Strand Slab Caster. By closely monitoring the telemetry and executing precise process control commands from the control room, we successfully stabilized operations and broke several internal records.
Key Technical Achievements
- Operational Extremes: Achieved the Highest Casting Speed of 2.4 m/Min, the Longest SES Ramping Profile clocking in at 980 Mins, and the Fastest Restranding time of just 52 Mins.
- Quality & Yield Optimization: Improved Process Definition Functions directly resulting in a 9% yield increase YoY and an 8% Scrap Reduction YoY.
- Data Analytics: Oversaw extensive data analytics for KPI improvement, utilizing BI tools and automated reporting structures to provide management with clear, actionable operational data.
Awards & Recognition
My dedication to continuous improvement, rapid problem-solving, and efficient process definition was recognized by upper management:
- Employee of The Month (April 2024): Selected from 200+ employees for the successful commissioning of the new twin strand caster and overall improvement in quality and yield.
- Shabbash Award: Recognized among 50+ employees for executing a record-time re-startup of production following the first-ever capital shutdown of the CCM.
